Experienced External Review Panelists (ERPs) and LIS faculty (especially administrators) are invited and encouraged to attend this session on the ALA accreditation appeal process and policies. Experienced ERPs who complete this training would be eligible to serve on an Appeal Review Committee in the event of an appeal.

ERPs assigned to a review where the accreditation decision could result in an appeal are especially encouraged to attend.

The training will cover grounds for appeal, how determinations are made, and the appeal process timeline as documented in the newly updated Section IV: Appeal Process of Accreditation Process, Policies, and Procedures (AP3).

Provides an opportunity for Education Librarians to gather and discuss relevant issues.

Changes in the economic and information landscape of higher education and technology demand that academic libraries develop new solutions to meet changing user expectations, and prepare our organizations for future directions. All academic library Associate University Librarians, Associate Deans, Assistant Directors, or equivalent ranked senior personnel who are interested in discussing organizational change are welcome to attend.

Cataloging concerns regarding RDA and AACR2 at various cataloging agencies.

New cataloging workflows and bibliographic/authority record structures that may offer more effective and efficient data access.

History and future of cataloging and metadata and the need for higher education, on-the-job training, and staffing recruitment.

Meeting of RUSA's Executive Committee.

An introduction to the ALA Conference and the city of Anaheim, for International and other attendees from abroad. ALA members will provide an overview of the conference, including recommended programs and social activities. Learn about conference transportation, the ALA's Exhibit Hall and the meaning of the ALA's many acronyms. The 2012 ALA Emerging Leaders will showcase their final projects at this culminating event for their class. Since the ALA Midwinter Meeting, the groups have been working virtually on projects related to ALA or a professional concern. These groups have been supported by ALA staff and member mentors from the profession. The poster session will allow each group to showcase its creative and innovative solutions for their projects. All are welcome and are encouraged to attend.

LITA Open House is a great opportunity for current and prospective members to talk with Library and Information Technology Association (LITA) leaders and learn how to make connections and become more involved in LITA activities.
