Targeted at library directors, department heads and senior staff from public, academic and special libraries, this hands-on workshop will train participants in dialogue facilitation skills with proven success in strengthening partnerships, building effective teams across departments and organizations, and raising the profile of the library as a center for community life. Participants will leave with valuable facilitation skills that can immediately be put to use for their libraries and communities.

Meeting of the Joint Conference of Librarians of Color Steering Committee planning the 2nd National Joint Conference of Librarians of Color (JCLC), September 19-23, 2012. Representatives from AILA, APALA, BCALA, CALA and REFORMA.

This Spectrum Institute session explores the interconnectedness of our identities, the unique ways that we define ourselves, and our values, beliefs and biases. We will use exercises to help us learn about who we are and how we impact others, and similarly, who others are and how they impact us. Come prepared to participate in this highly interactive session. Facilitated by Alanna Aiko Moore, Sociology, Ethnic Studies and Gender Studies Librarian, University of California, San Diego.

This is a meeting for the ALA Training, Orientation and Leadership Development (TOLD) Committee.

Has your library stalled in its attempt to develop a fundraising strategy? Are you trying to raise the community's awareness of the value of your library? Two years ago, the New Jersey State Library launched a public awareness campaign with famous athletes and authors serving as Library Champions, and with the help of marketing and development teams, leveraged those champions into an effective fund raising vehicle. Workshop participants will learn 1) how to recruit celebrity champions and local heroes to promote your library; 2) how to leverage library champions, build a donor database and raise big money for your library; 3) how to build a donor development strategy for everyone in your library; and 4) the essential publications your library must produce to secure funders.
